Jennie Barclay, 87
Jennie Barclay, 87, of Austin, died Monday March 20, 2000 at the Austin Medical Center.
She was born May 22, 1912 in Little Rock, Iowa to William and Hermina (Muller) Bos.
She married Wert Kruger on July 3, 1928 in Iowa. They farmed in the George, Iowa area until 1965 when Wert passed away. Jennie continued to live on the farm until she married Alvin (Buck) Barclay on Dec. 22, 1971 at Crane Community Chapel by the Rev. Joe Matt. She moved to Austin with Buck and together they traveled and went on camping trips until Alvin (Buck) died in December of 1995. After his death Jennie lived with her granddaughter Corienne Scott in Austin. Jennie was a member of Crane community Chapel in Austin. She loved to travel, go camping, and play horseshoes. She enjoyed going to rummage sales, playing bingo, and bowling. She like to bake and enjoyed flowers. She was a good mother, step mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Florence and Richard Kaduce, Kisse Mills, Mo., Lorraine and Herman Kramer, George, Iowa; step daughters and step sons-in-law Delores Heming, Ephrata, Pa, Shirley and Dave Van Vleet, Blaine, Joyce and Thomas Reitveld, Owatonna, Annetta and Kenny Fredrickson, Austin; step sons and step daughter-in-law Ronald and Sharon Barclay, Austin, Roy and Lil Barclay, Minneapolis, Alvin and June Barclay, Minneapolis, Larry and Linda Barclay, Austin; 37 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister and brother-in-law Emma Falck, Austin, Katie and Richard Bumgarner, Austin; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

· Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday March 24, 2000 at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Randy Petersen officiating. There will be a Funeral Service at Bolin Funeral Home in George, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday March 25, 2000 with a visitation on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bolin Funeral Home in George, Iowa with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
· Interment: Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Iowa.
· Visitation: Friends may call Clasen-Jordan Mortuary form 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2000 and on Friday evening for one hour before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowerer memorials preferred to The Family Hour Crane Chapel.
Evelyn Johnson, 82
Evelyn "Mina" Johnson, 82, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000 at her home.
Survivors include her husband LeRoy; seven daughters Lillian (Almo Jahr) and Marlys (Foe Follmuth), St. Ansgar; Darlene Main, Fresno, Calif., Grace (Herman Peterson), Inver Grove Heights; Linda Garvey, Bolan, Iowa, Rebecca (Gary Frederickson) Byron, Monica (Myron Hemann) of Mc Intire, Iowa; four sons, Robert and wife Patty, Winona, Wayne and wife Neilene, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Lynn and wife Teri , Hibbing, David , Bryon; 46 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter, and a very large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, two brother, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, one grandson, two great grandchildren.
· Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at Mona Lutheran Church, Mona, Iowa with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating.
· Interment: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa.
· Visitation: Friends may call at the church one hour before the service.
Laurel Day, 83
Laurel Day, 83, of Waltham, died Monday, March 20, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.
He was born March 1, 1917 in Brownsdale to Arthur and Alta (Danley) Day. He received his education up to the 8th grade. He married Marie Gehloff on July 5, 1944 in Osage, Iowa. They made their home in Brownsdale. The later became the parents of six children Darrell, Carrell, James, Farrell, Dawn, and LaVonne.
Laurel worked for 24 1/2 years. His hobbies include gardening, raising chickens and rabbits for which he won many ribbons at the county fair. He loved Buick cars and boxing events of which he collected large scrapbooks of boxing clippings. The clippings dated back to the late 1890’s to the 1900’s when they fought with their bare fists. Laurel also had a large collection of the first motion pictures, such as Mickey Mouse, Sinbad the Sailor, and Chimp on the Farm. Laurel was a great family man. Among his many joys, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were at the top of his list. They were his pride and joy. He was a kind, loving and generous father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survived by sons and daughters-in-law Darrell and Linda Day, Austin, James and Marilyn Day, Brownsdale, Minn., Farrell and Dawnya Day, Waltham; daughters and sons-in-law Carrell and Edgar Bathke, Wells, Minn., LaVonne and David Godwin, Brownsdale, Minn., 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Bernice and James Strouf, Austin, Beatrice Hartson, Austin, Betty and Donald Voigt, Austin.
· Service: 10:30 a.m. at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Randy Peterson officiating.
· Interment: Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
· Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday March 24, 2000 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and on Saturday at Crane Community Chapel from one hour before the service at the church.
Rita Flo, 67
Rita R.. Flo, 67, Rose Creek, died Wednesday evening March 22, 2000 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
She is survived by brother and sister-in-law Bernard and Juletta Wendel, Chester, Iowa, a sister Clara Grever, Roundup, Mont. special friend Leland Aanonson, Rose Creek, nieces, nephew and cousins,
· Service: a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 on Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Ruban Spinler officiating.
· Interment: St. Peter’s Cemetery
· Visitation: A 7 p.m. Rosary on Friday evening at Mayor Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Leslie Kraft, 79
Leslie William Kraft, 79, Dexter, died March 22, 2000 at Adams Healthcare Center.
He was born March 27, 1920, in Dexter Township, Minn. to William and Ethel (Wigham) Kraft. He married Audrey L. Westerberg Dec. 30, 1958 in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived on the family farm all their married life. A member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Leslie also belonged to the American Legion.
He is survived by wife Audrey; children Randall Kraft, Alaska, Kendall Kraft, Austin, Kevin Kraft, Blooming Prairie, Carol and Lee Pannkuk, Rochester; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers and sister-in-law Wilbur Kraft, Austin; Lawrence and Verna Kraft, Stewartville; sisters and brothers-in-law Wilma and Alton Johnson, Austin, Florence Plath, Austin, Eleanor and Willis Hertle, Austin, Carol and Roy Hamilton, Elkton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
· Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2000 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elkton, with the Rev. Kathy Gauger officiating.
· Interment: St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 140 of Grand Meadow and VFW Post 1216.

Joseph Hahn, 48
Joseph D. Hahn 48, Austin, died March 16, 2000 at Burr Oak Manor.
Joseph was born on March 30, 1951, to Gordon and Elizabeth (Diddams) Hahn in Austin, Minn. Joe graduated from Austin High School and attended Austin State Junior College. He had served in the Army National Guard for a short period of time and had worked for several years at St. Olaf Hospital helping in the Emergency room and as an orderly. Joseph was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy 37 years ago and had volunteered a great deal of his time and energy to the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day Telethon for over 25 years. Joe also volunteered his time to the Mower Council for the Handicapped. He was the Treasurer for the council for the past two years and had helped to organize Christmas Dinners for several years for the Council. He was a life member of Fidelity Lodge No. 39 AF & AM and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Unity Chapter No. 29. He was a past Master Councilor of Osman Chapter, Order of DeMolay. Joe like to be involved with people and enjoyed visiting with friends. Joe had been a member of Civil Air Patrol and the Gopher CB Club. He had volunteered with the American Red Cross as a First Aid Instructor, CPR Instructor, and had helped at the Bloodmobile. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 91 and the Auxiliary Police for several years. Joe enjoyed all sports and was a Twins fan. He was very close to this family and friends and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his mother Elizabeth (Betty) Hahn, Austin; brother Edger Hahn, Austin; aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Gordon (Don) Hahn in 1979.
· Service: A memorial service 1:30 Thursday, March 23 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Deines and Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Organist Jan Gilbertson and soloist Rev. Dan Kahl
· Interment: LeRoy Cemetery
· Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Funeral Chapel. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday conducted by Fidelity Lodge No. 39 AF and AM

Shirley Patch 73
Shirley J. Patch, 73, Westminster, Calif., formerly of Austin, died Monday, March 13 at Long Beach, Calif.
She is survived by her sister, Aloha Patch, Westminster, Calif.; four nieces, one nephew, nine great-nieces and nephews; eleven great-great nieces and nephews.
· Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2000 at the Grace Baptist Church in Austin with Pastor Gordon Larson officiating.
· Interment: Enterprise Cemetery.
· Visitation: Friends may call for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Nelson, 85
Kenneth Nordeen Nelson, 85 of LeRoy, died Wednesday, March 22, at the Olmsted Hospital in Rochester after suffering a massive heart attack.
Kenneth was born Jan. 13, 1915 in Lodi Township, Mower County to Julius and Ella (Erie) Nelson. He attended school near his home and was confirmed at the West LeRoy Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed farming and running the steam threshing rig with his father. He later farmed near Adams and Lyle. He later drove a truck for LCL Trucking Co., and also did construction work. He had been living with his sister in LeRoy and loved to build lawn ornaments.
Kenneth is surived by his sister, Gladys (Dale) Fortney of LeRoy, and many cousins.
· Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy with the Rev. Tom Kolden of the LeRoy Lutheran Church officiating.
· Interment: Burial will be in the church cemetery.
· Visitation: Friends may call from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in LeRoy.
