23-year-old facing choking charge

A suspect who allegedly strangled a woman with an extension cord and dumped chocolate milk on her faces felony and misdemeanor assault charges.
Christopher Maricle, 23, of Austin, was charged Tuesday in Mower County Court with felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic assault.
Austin Police officers arrested Maricle at about 12:30 a.m. Monday after the victim reported the assault, according to the court complaint. The victim said a verbal argument happened in the garage and escalated when the suspect grabbed her wrist, pushed her down and wrapped a cord around her neck. The complaint added the victim was able to go into the house, but Maricle allegedly poured chocolate milk on her and around the house and broke several items, including a coffee table.
Maricle has a court appearance scheduled for July 8.
