Lorraine was born to Sylvester and Esther O’Marro on Oct. 26, 1921, in Calmar, Iowa.

They returned to Austin when she was a young child and lived in Dutch Town. She graduated from Austin High School in 1939.

Lorraine worked at Hormel Foods during World War II. She married Calvin Johnson, but they were only married a year when “Ike” passed away of an undetected heart problem.

In 1953, Lorraine married “Mac” McFarland and enjoyed 40 years together.

Lorraine enjoyed the outdoors, her vast array of pets, including horses, a goat, burro, dogs, cats, and any other stray that might need a home on the “acreage” in Moscow. She also was an avid reader and loved to bake awesome chocolate cakes and cinnamon rolls.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, sister, Ruth Ball, two nieces and a nephew.

She is survived by her sister, Pat Heiny of Austin, her son, Patrick (Eileen) McFarland of Boise, Idaho, stepson, Tom (Mary) McFarland of Spokane, Wash., daughter Reenie (David) Allen of East Troy, Wis., six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A get-together at the B & J Bar and Grill, her nephew’s establishment, will be held following the funeral.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Paul Nelson officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Wednesday.
