Marie I. Silbaugh, 79, of Austin, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at St. Marks Lutheran Home.

Marie was born on Sept. 13, 1934, in Taylor, Ark., to William and Mattie (Strong) Stephens. While in high school, she was the “go-to” athlete and led her team to the state basketball championship. Shortly after she graduated high school, she attended Shreveport School of Business in Shreveport, La. On July 2, 1960, she married the love of her life, James A. Silbaugh. Jim often called her, “Little Blossom” as a reflection of her love of flowers. Marie enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, parents William and Mattie; and siblings Rayford Stephens; Raymond Stephens; Albert Stephens; and Ernest Stephens.

Marie is survived by her children: Helen & Gregory Jahr, Austin; Rosie Stallman (S. C. Sears) Palm Harbor, Fla.; James A. & Tracy Silbaugh, Jr., Parker, Colo.; grandchildren:  Sara (Shane) Lindemann; Rachael (Matthew) Cecko; Christopher Jahr; Kade Silbaugh; and Peyton Silbaugh; great granddaughter: Briar Lindemann; siblings: William Stephens, Cecil Stephens, Trebia Willis, and Jerry Stephens and nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father James Steffes officiating.  Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with a prayer service at 4 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the service on Monday morning.
