More than 200 people attended the 15th annual Mower County Pheasants Forever dinner on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Austin Conference Center.

“We had over 200 people and there was some money spent, so that’s a good thing,” President Arlen Schamber laughed.

Although organizers don’t have exact totals yet, Schamber estimated the banquet raised about $20,000. The annual banquet raises money for the group to either give to people hoping to make their own land more nature-friendly or to purchase land as a group.

Schamber has been happy with the past banquet turnouts, citing about 200 people attend each year, which shone true this year as well.

“It went well,” Schamber said.

The group has acquired more than 350 acres of land along U.S. Highway 218 near the Cedar River, and put in more than $1 million over the years to turn land into public hunting or habitat land.
