John Rumpza, a senior at Blooming Prairie, has been named a Region One A Academics, Arts and Athletics Award winner for 2015.

Rumpza has been active in band, football, basketball, and baseball throughout high school. He plans on attending Winona State University to major in Mathematics Education and Coaching. He has signed his NCAA letter-of-intent to play football at WSU.

Established in 1988, the AAA Award is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors with a 3.0 or higher grade point average who participate in MSHSL sponsored athletic programs and fine arts activities such as theater, speech, music and debate.

Rumpza will receive his award at the section boys basketball finals at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester March 5.
