Inez Mary Walsh Waters, 94, of Austin, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

Inez was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on June 12, 1920, to Joseph and Marie (Haley) Walsh. She attended grade school and graduated from Visitation High School in 1939 in Dubuque. Inez graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in their nursing program. Inez married Raymond “Ray” John Waters on Nov. 30, 1957, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin.
Being a nurse was a calling for Inez. She worked at St. Olaf Hospital for 45 years until her retirement. She loved to walk. Inez walked to work for many years and even well into her retirement years. She volunteered at the senior center by giving blood pressure tests. Inez was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the CCW for many years. She also enjoyed reading.
Inez is survived by her husband Ray of Austin; brother-in-law, Gene (Veronica) Plantz of Byron; along with nieces and nephews.
Inez is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Bob and Vince Walsh; sister-in-law Florence Plantz.
A memorial mass will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at the chapel at Sacred Heart Care Center with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery. Online Condolences- www.mayerfh.com.
