3 Blue Devil baseball players receive honors

The Riverland Community College baseball team had three player receive honors from this past season.

Zach Schwieters, a freshman from Rochester John Marshall, was named the Marucci Elite Hitter of the Year, he was a third team-All-American and he was named to the All-Region, All-State and All-MCAC South teams; Mitch Kelly, a freshman from Lake Crystal, Minn., was named second team All-American, All-Region, All-State and All-MCAC South; Alex Roosen, a freshman from Kenyon-Wanamingo, was named All-MCAC South.

Schwieters hit .448 with 7 homers, 8 doubles, 1 triple and 32 RBIs for RCC, Kelly was 8-1 with 1 save and an ERA of 2.01 and Roosen was .407 with 5 homers, 15 doubles, 1 triple and 46 RBIs.

RCC head coach Scott Koenigs was named MCAC head coach of the year.

The Blue Devils went 37-6 overall and tied a school record for wins. They won their fourth MCAC title in the last six years.
