Austin visitor robbed at gunpoint; Police find bullet in suspect’s hotel room; took undisclosed amount of cash

An Arizona man was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night near the Rodeway Inn in northeast Austin.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said the suspect approached the victim near the Shell gas station at 709 21st St. NE around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and showed him a gun. The suspect made the victim go back to his hotel room and asked for everything the victim had.

The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Krueger.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot, 8-inch black male with short hair. He wore a black shirt and red, knee-length shorts at the time.

Police found a .40 caliber bullet inside the victim’s hotel room, which the suspect allegedly dropped when he took out the gun and cocked it at one point.
