Winners of the Fourth-Grade Junior Fire Poster Contest were announced on Thursday at McDonald’s, 1009 W. Oakland Ave. Pictured, in the first row, are: Victor Mendez, Nawras Zaki, Minsuh Schuster, Andrew Thompson, Brandon Kuhnke, Blake Zimmerli, Nick Asmus, Adam Christenson, and Finn Byers; in the second row: Fire Chief Jim McCoy and Fire Inspector Tim Hansen. One child was unable to attend the event. Brandon Kuhnke was the overall winner and his poster will be submitted to the State competition. Sponsors of the program include the Austin Fire Department, McDonald’s, Walmart, Austin Fire & Safety, Echo Lanes, CineMagic 7, Family Video, Austin Park & Recreation, and Friends of the Jay C.
