The Austin Bruins exploded for a five-goal second period en route to a convincing 7-3 win over the Bismarck Bobcats Friday night in Riverside Arena.

Down 1-0 after Bismarck’s Harrison Aide scored in the first period, the Bruins pounded Bobcats goalie Hunter Shepard in the second period spurred by Gilbert Gabor’s two goals.

Bismarck rebounded somewhat in the third with goals from Cole Souto and Aide, but Austin took

back with a pair of goals in just under two minutes from Evan Cholak and Miha Zajc.

Despite the lopsided win, the Bruins only outshot Bismarck 24-21.

Kristofer Carlson got the win in net with 21 saves.
