A pair of former Minnesota Vikings, including Carl Lee will be in Austin Saturday for a youth football camp at Wescott Athletic Complex.

Lee, a former defensive back with the Vikings and a member of the 40th Anniversary Viking Team, 50 Greatest Vikings and All Dome Viking Team, will be joined by former running back and Stanford University Athletic Director Darrin Nelson as they work with members of the Austin coaching staff to help bring fundamentals to Austin youth.

“It is my hope that this provides the opportunity to learn from pro football players at a camp in this community,” said organizer Brandon Lawhead.

The Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders will also be working with coach Billie Jo Wicks for a cheerleading camp

The camp is for youth in first through eighth-grades and is free. Registration is at Sterling Main Street at 9 a.m. Immediately following the camp there will be a pizza party at George’s Pizza.

“In the end it’s a fun experience to learn from someone who has seen success on a high level,” Lawhead said.
