Gayle Elaine Newman, 72, of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at her home in Austin.

She was born June 21, 1943, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Warren and Iris (Nodine) Brooks. Gayle grew up and attended Austin schools. On Dec. 31, 1976, she was united in marriage to Robert Allen Newman in Dexter, Minnesota. The couple later moved to Brownsdale, Minnesota, before returning to Austin. She worked for Marsden’s Janitor Service in the mid-1970s. In the late 1970s to early 1980s, she worked for Kmart until she was hurt on the job and had to stop working. After recuperating at home during the mid-1990s to late 1990s, she worked for a short time at the Greenway Co-op gas station in Brownsdale, Minnesota.

Survivors include her daughters: Brenda (Dan) Rogers of Austin, Christal Barnett of Waseca and Brian Kraushaar of Rochester, and Jennifer Butts (Bill) of Kasson; sisters: Linda (Tharen) Seljeseth of Owatonna, Melanie (George) Isaacs of Independence, Kentucky, Janice (Syd) De Jarnett of Fort Worth, Texas, Sharon Renhard of Mollala, Oregon; brother Dana Farrell of Austin, Minnesota; mother-in-law Vandy Newman; sister-in-laws: Kathy (Jody) Bates, and Holly Newman, all of Austin; nieces and nephews: Aaron, Lee, Graham, Lena, Kim, Hillary, Lydel and Kiley; her 10 grandchildren that she loved dearly: Adam, Sarah, Corey, Haley, Jordan, Colin, Ashley, Jon, Skylar, Alaina. She adored her great grandson Landon Rogers who always called her “GG.”

Gayle was preceded in death by her grandmother Lena Ulwelling; mother Iris Brooks; husband Robert Allen Newman; brother Grey Brooks; brother-in-law Curt Renhard; and son-in-law Curtis Barnett.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Dennis Tamke officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Worlein Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
