The Austin girls hockey team opened its season with a 5-2 win at Mankato East Monday night.

Madsion Overby and Chloe Summerfield each scored two goals for the Packers (1-0 overall, 1-0 Big Nine).

Mara Overby had 22 saves for Austin and Jaiden Schuster added her first caree goal and one assist.

Myia Hoium and Brandi Myers each had two assists and Meghan Haldorson had one assist.
