Government offices are getting ready to close up shop for Christmas and then New Year’s Day.

The Mower County Government Center along with the Jail and Justice Center will both be closed on Christmas Eve ,Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, though the offices will be open as normal, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on New Year’s Eve.

Austin City Hall will be closed at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and it will be closed on Christmas. The city will have normal hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on New Year’s Eve before it is closed on New Year’s Day.

The offices will again close for Marin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18, 2016. That week’s Austin City Council meeting will be on Tuesday.

The Austin Daily Herald will be open 8 a.m. to noon on Christmas Eve before it’s closed on Christmas and New Year’s.
