The Austin girls hockey team opened its Holiday tournament with a 5-1 win over Mankato West (7-8-1 overall) in Riverside Arena Monday.

The Packers (6-5 overall) took a 2-1 lead when Myia Hoium scored a goal early in the third period and Brandi Myers scored to make it 3-1 Austin.

Chloe Summerfield had two goals for the Packers, Lily Holtz had one goal and Meghan Haldorson and Sam Grunewald each had an assist.

Mara Overby had 26 saves for Austin, which had 38 shots on goal.

The Packers will play Anoka in Riverside Arena 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.
