ST. PAUL — A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to house arrest after he attacked and injured a teacher at St. Paul Central High School last month.

Minnesota Public Radio News reports Judge James Clark sentenced the teenager on Tuesday to 90 days of supervision and electronic home monitoring. He also was sentenced to 150 hours community service.

The teen pleaded guilty to juvenile charges last month.

Prosecutors asked that the teen receive treatment in a facility away from his family. But the judge agreed with county probation officials who recommended the boy remain in his home while receiving treatment.

The Dec. 4 attack left science teacher John Ekblad with a traumatic brain injury. Ekblad plans to sue St. Paul Public Schools for allegedly failing to provide a safe working environment.
