New logo, tagline for Austin Utilities

In addition to unveiling its new central facility building, Austin Utilities also revealed its new logo and tagline.

With a countdown, the logo was revealed. The logo features an intersecting A and U to represent Austin Utilities.

“It’s a clean modern design,” Kelly Lady, marketing and energy services manager, said. “It ties in with our new building.”

The slant between letters is meant for an upward direction and organization that is forward thinking and upward moving.

The blue color represents reliability, conservation and trust. The green means AU is committed to sustainability and efficient energy use.

General Manager Mark Nibaur said they are proud of their history but with new construction, it seemed time to make a visual change.

Utilities leaders also added the first tagline in company history.

“We are very happy about the tagline and we’ve never had a tagline before,” Lady said. “The marketing committee tweaked and massaged it until they came up with, ‘Connections for Better Living.’”

“That really suits us because obviously we connect with you, through the utility service, the electrical, the natural gas and water,” Lady said. “We also have a connection through the community because we’re a municipal utility and we are a part of the community and we’re here to improve the community and not just be a utility company.”

Lady said even though the logo is new, it’s still based on a history of service and connections with customers.
