Mower and Freeborn counties’ three legislators are all seeking another term in the Nov. 8 election.
District 27 Sen. Dan Sparks, DFL-Austin; District 27A Rep. Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea; and District 27B Rep. Jeanne Poppe, DFL-Austin, are all seeking new terms.
Sparks has been proud to serve the district.
“I think it’s been an honor to serve this area,” Sparks said.
With the entire Minnesota House and Senate up for reelection in November, Sparks said that could serve as extra motivation for lawmaker to do what the public wants this session.
“They just want us to go up there and get some things done,” he said.
“I am running for re-election so I can continue the important work of improving our schools, fixing our child protection system, job creation and improving the lives of our aging loved ones,” Bennett, 57, said in a news release.
Gary Schindler, dean of student affairs at Riverland Community College, announced in October he will seek the DFL nomination in District 27A to challenge Bennett.
No candidates have announced bids yet to challenge Poppe or Sparks.
