Victor Norman Augustin, 75, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, March 27, 2016, in Renville County, Minnesota.

He was born June 12, 1940, the son of George and Elta (Meier) Augustin. The strong work ethic of Vic’s parents molded him into the man he turned out to be. A graduate of Elkton High School, Vic learned both the hard way of doing things and how to be a loving friend. His many occupations included farming, managing a fertilizer plant and a grain elevator, as well as being a truck driver and a meatpacker at the Hormel plant in Austin. He was a hard-working man who put others first. Vic formed bonds of friendship with the love of Jesus Christ woven into each one. He enjoyed his farming occupation, planting his fields, as well as baking his special cakes, building things, and visiting with friends. He also served as a Boy Scout leader. The father of five children, Vic taught his family the core values of friendship, love, and hard work before sending them off to build their own lives. These important values are visible throughout the Augustin family tree. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Victor is survived by his children, Jeff (Lou Ann) Augustin of Cape Coral, Florida, Pam (Tony) Severson of South St. Paul, Minnesota, Michelle Goergen of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Jeremy Augustin of Waconia, Minnesota, and Jason (Kristie) Augustin of Hayfield, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Nick, Mallory, Jared, Jake, Chessa, Chad, Ashley, Emily, Addison, and one more due later this year; five great-grandchildren, Chloe, Amelia, Keats, Brinley, Drake and a sixth great-grandchild, also due later this year; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Elta Augustin; his sister Ruth (Chet) Sande; his brothers George and Jim Augustin; and his sister Loretta Drabant.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sargeant, Minnesota, with Pastor Collin Duling officiating. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church cemetery, Sargeant. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
