Georgia Jean (Greiner) Williams, 78

Georgia Jean (Greiner) Williams, 78, of Austin, Minnesota, went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

Georgia was born Feb. 11, 1939, in Lyle, Minnesota, to Robert and Blanche (Bedford) Greiner. She graduated from Lyle High School (Class of 1957) and attended St. Paul Bible College. On Oct. 24, 1959, Georgia was united in marriage to Hilmore Nelson Williams of Osage, Iowa. They were blessed to raise three children, Julie, Darwin and Kim. Georgia will be remembered for her generosity, kindness and fervent prayer. She enjoyed loving relationships with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She loved to do puzzles, play games, and sent countless cards of encouragement to those around her. Georgia ministered as a pastor’s wife at the Hawley Alliance Church 1976-1979, Grace Bible Church of Highmore, South Dakota, 1979-1985, Remer Alliance Church 1985-1994, Echo Alliance Church 1994-1997, and at Faith Church 2005-2014 in Austin. Georgia was interviewed on an Iowa Christian radio station (KCJY) in September 2016 during her time of remission and healing following chemotherapy treatment October to December 2015. She lovingly shared, “I knew God was with me and He was going to heal me. I would either live longer or I might die, but death is a healing, too. So I just kept praying to God saying, ‘whatever happens, I will give you the glory because I know how much you love me and I know how much I love you.’”

Georgia‘s memory will remain in the hearts of her husband, Hilmore; her daughter, Julie (Travis) Schmidt; her son, Darwin (Trixie) Williams; her daughter, Kimberly (Steven) Phillips; five grandchildren: Chelsey (Jon) Odell, Joshua Phillips, Christine Phillips, Cara Schmidt, and Isa Williams; one great-grandchild, Brycen Odell; her sisters, Bonny (Warren) Toavs and Rebecca (Harlan) Greiner-Pepper; and a host of other relatives and friends. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Leo and Blanche Belle Greiner; her sister, Betty Grinstead; and her grandsons, Ian Williams and Daniel Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Faith Church, 1800 12th St. SW, Austin with Pastor Mike Sager officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Saturday at church. Following the service the family invites you to join them for a luncheon. The interment will be at Woodbury Cemetery after the lunch.
