Workforce Development, Inc. in Albert Lea began their second Renewable Energy Academy on Monday, July 27 at Riverland Community College.

The Renewable Energy Academy was developed to increase opportunities for the unemployed, underemployed and dislocated workers to find careers in “green” energy.

Some of the topics covered include renewable energy basics, technical math, workplace terminology and OSHA safety training.  Students are assisted in understanding current energy career opportunities and obligations and possibly planning for formal college training.  They also receive assistance in looking for work including resume development, resources and referrals.

The Renewable Energy Academy is funded through the Wired grant from the Minnesota Renewable Energy Marketplace.
