Slow, steady storm hits region

Published Monday, February 8, 2010

A winter storm touched down in southern Minnesota late Sunday and is expected to continue through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Austin received roughly two inches of fresh snow overnight and may receive another three to four inches Monday, an additional three inches overnight Monday and into Tuesday and an inch Tuesday during the day before the storm tapers off.

“Basically, it’s going to be persistent,” said Andrew Just, meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

A winter storm warning for Mower County remains in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
