Fun was the name of the game for the Lyle/Pacelli tennis team on Monday in Faribault. Coach Suzy Hebrink mixed up her lineup, giving her girls a chance to play singles, if they had been playing doubles, and doubles, if they had been playing singles all year. Everyone had fun and played well especially the doubles teams as they swept their Shattuck/St. Mary’s counterparts in the while winning 4-3.
Sammy Jones and Laura Christopherson won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, Tammy May and Buffy Judd 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2, and Christina Edstrom and Tina Rosenthal won 6-4, 6-4.
"Our doubles teams played well," Hebrink said.
Laura Wiechmann was in the lead off spot in the singles. She lost her first set 6-1, but then came back strong in the second only to lose in a tie break 7-4.
"Laura did a good job," Hebrink said. "When she finally got warmed up she played well."
Erin Evans was defeated 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and Ilsa Burke was beaten 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4.
At No. 3 singles was fifth-grader Anne Hebrink. She won her match 6-3, 6-0.
