Several full-time and part time members are new to Riverland Community College faculty rosters this fall.

Several full-time and part time members are new to Riverland Community College faculty rosters this fall.
John Berke of Lewiston, Idaho, has joined the English faculty. He previously taught at the Intensive English Institute and at Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho. Berke earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at the University of South Dakota.
Jon Olseth, previously a part-time instructor in the English Department, has also joined the full-time English faculty. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from The American University in Washington, D.C.
Lisa Quednow-Bickler is Riverland’s new Women’s Athletic Director. Her previous coaching experience was at St. Cloud State University and Monroe Junior High School in St. Paul. Quednow-Bickler attended St. Cloud State after taking an Associate of Arts Degree at Austin Community College.
Paulette Clark joins the Corrections and Law Enforcement faculty at Riverland. Clark attended Austin Community College and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Corrections/Sociology and her Master’s Degree in Human Services Administration at Mankato State University.
Tom Wilker, Riverland’s new Carpentry instructor, comes to us from Austin High School where he was an industrial technology teacher. He holds a B.S. from Mankato State University. He looks forward to serving as a VICA advisor this year at Riverland.
Larry D. Peterson returned to Austin as an Auto/Truck Body Rebuilding Instructor after an absence of seven years. He worked for Forest City Ford, taught part-time at North Iowa Community College and operated his own business during that time. Previously, he was an instructor at Riverland Technical College from 1987 to 1992.
Stacy Rosenberg is a new Nursing Instructor. Her background includes RN, BSN and MS Degrees in Nursing from North Iowa Community College, University of Iowa and Winona State University, respectively. She has served as a public health nurse and as an RN in several different health care settings.
Scott Blankenbaker of Helena, Ark., joins the Music Department this fall. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Nebraska and Master of Music degree at Kansas State University, serving as a voice instructor at Kansas State and a music instructor at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas before coming to Riverland.
Kathleen Nelson is Riverland’s new Librarian. She served the Chandler Public Library in Chandler, Arizona and Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz., most recently, but prior to that she was Librarian at Rochester Community and Technical College.
New Part-time faculty members include Susan Hebrink (Women’s Basketball and Men’s/Women’s Tennis), Scott Hanna (Transport Refrigeration), Cheryl Van Pelt (Nursing), Mary Larscheid (Sociology), Merle Boes (Math), Lee Brand (Soccer, Baseball, Health and Phy-Ed), Lori Jensen (Business and Office), Susan Knoll (Biology), Charlotte Lindgren (Health), Mark Sherman (Human Services), Nels Thompson (Biology), Katrina Volkert (Accounting), Brenda Waltz (Emergency Medical Care), Terese Amazi (Law Enforcement), Amelia Holden (General Studies), Todd Penske (Business and Office), Ricki Walters (General Studies).
Riverland Dean of Academic Affairs Jan Waller says "We’re very pleased with the quality of all our new instructors, and we know that they’ll serve our students well. Each one of them has the right background and the right attitude about teaching in a Community College, where attention to individuals and a community atmosphere is so important."
