A trip out of town for two Austin men gave burglars all the opportunity they needed, according to police reports.
The two men left Sunday and returned Tuesday, to a house turned upside down and the loss of many of their belongings.
Burglars had gained entry by kicking in the south side door of the residence on the 600 block of 14th Street NW. Once in, the burglar or burglars overturned furniture, emptied closets onto the floor and ransacked the medicine cabinet.
Taken from the residence were two stereos, large speakers, tapes and CDs, a 27-inch RCA television, a VCR, a Compaq computer and printer, a microwave oven, a cordless phone, a coffee can with an estimated $80 in change in it, and several bottles of cologne.
There are currently no suspects, and early estimates put losses at close to $3,000.
