Thomas Gary Corscadden, 48, of Austin, will return to prison for further rehabilitation, according to a DOC report filed with the Austin Police Department.

The official recommendation from the DOC is for Corscadden to begin another program for sex offender treatment. The assessment is a six- to nine-month program.

According to the Austin Police Department, Corscadden, who had been released as a Risk Level III criminal sex offender, had failed to complete such an assessment previously. Originally, he was scheduled to be released earlier, and as a Level II offender.

Because of he failure to complete the assessment process, Corscadden was discharged as Level III, the highest risk under Minnesota law.

Corscadden was released Feb. 28 and had been living in a downtown apartment until found surfing the Internet and observed viewing pornographic web sites at the Job Service Minnesota site at Riverland Community College.

A well-attended community meeting was held just over a month ago, prior to Corscadden’s release, to notify the public of his impending release. The informational meeting was done pursuant to Minnesota law and also included notifying schools and day-care centers.
