What a great thing for this week’s Guthrie Theatre production of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" to come to Austin.
What’s even better is that it truly is a community project. Everyone wins.
The cost of the production was underwritten by Hormel Foods Corp. That allows the proceeds from ticket sales to go toward those groups that are doing the legwork in making the Minneapolis theater group’s stop here a wonderful success.
In addition, school children will benefit when they get to see productions of the performance during the day on Thursday and Friday. The Austin Education Foundation picked up the tab on the shows.
Local thanks also should go toward the owners of Target stores, which made a half-million-dollar donation toward the troupe’s multicity tour.
A few tickets still are available. Remember the proceeds stay in our community. Make it a date.
