Vicki Sparks holds her patriotic grandson, Dawson Hollund, Tuesday during Austin’s annual Fourth of July parade. Rain fell toward the end of the parade, scattering onlookers, and discontinuing KAAL Channel 6’s live coverage of the event. The parade was part of Austin’s SPAMTOWN USA Festival, a four-day event that was capped with Tuesday evening’s fireworks display at Horace Austin Park in downtown Austin. The festival started with SPAM Jam on East Side Lake on Saturday and included events such as the downtown street dance on Monday (see Page 3) and a lot of entertainment and fun for kids.
