The Second District Mower County Commissioner filed for the campaign last week.

Tucker’s seat on the county board is the second term to expire this year.

The First District seat held by Richard P. Cummings will also see the incumbent’s term expire.

Cummings also filed for reelection last week. He is the senior member of the county board with over 20 years or five terms in office. This will be his sixth term if he is successful in his reelection bid.

The First District includes Lansing, red Rock, Udolpho and Waltham townships, plus the cities of Brownsdale, Mapleview and Waltham and the First and Fourth precincts in the city of Austin’s First Ward.

Tucker’s district is the largest geographically in the county. It includes 12 townships and eight municipalities or nearly the eastern half of Mower County.

State Rep. Rob Leighton (DFL-Austin) filed for a third term in the Minnesota House.

Robert Goetz also filed for a four-year term on the Mower County Soil and Water Conservation District’s board of supervisors, representing District No. Five.

According to the Mower County Auditor, the filing deadline is 5 p.m. July 18.

Filings for all city government positions must take place at the Austin Municipal Building.
