If you can’t get enough holiday cheer, then Austin High School has a concert for you. The high school choirs and orchestra will present their annual Holiday Festival at 10 a.m. Friday in Knowlton Auditorium. Originally scheduled for Monday, it was postponed due to the weather.
A wide range of music will be performed, from traditional to popular. The finale will consist of the massed choirs singing the "Hallelujah Chorus."
The Prep Orchestra will present the "Russian Dance" from the Nutcracker.
The Concert Orchestra will perform a selection titled "Russian Christmas Music," Orchestra director Phil Burkhart said. "This is a great piece. It’s monumental in scope and great fun to play."
Choral Director Brian Johnson said that the Austinaires will perform a parody of "Deck the Halls," while the Treble Choir will sing Catalan carols, from a geographical region near Spain and France.
Traditional tunes also will be on the choir’s program, including "Joy to the World" and "Let it Snow."
Tickets for the concert can be purchased from any choir or orchestra member or at the door before the performance.
