WATERVILLE – The Awesome Blossoms of Blooming Prairie won one dual and lost another at a triangular Thursday night at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School.

The Blossoms are 4-2 overall and 0-2 in the Gopher Conference.

Next up is a triangular with Byron, Zumbrota and LaCrescent at Byron on Saturday.

W-E-M 44, Blooming Prairie 21

Blooming Prairie lost its first dual in the triangular to W-E-M by a score of 44-21.

Co-coach Dave Pfiefer said that it was a disappointing loss and not a good start to the night with only four wins.

Blooming Prairie 41, USC 20

In the second dual of the triangular, Blooming Prairie had a couple of key wins early in the meet, Pfiefer said, helping the Blossoms over United South Central of Wells.

Pfiefer said the wrestlers came on stronger in the second dual and were able to coast at the end.

MANKATO – Dan Smith received his first career varsity win as the Austin Packers beat Mankato West, 31-25, in wrestling here Thursday.

T.J. Parlin and Chad Mentel both ran their records to 9-0. Mentel also has a total of seven pins so far this season. Drew Oesterle is 8-1 for the season.

The meet was a "big, big, big victory for our team tonight," coach Bill Kinney said.

The Packers record stands at 5-3-1 and 2-0 in the Big 9.
