It’s not just sleigh bells that will be ringing this holiday. The Ecumenical Bells will be presenting a community concert 7 p.m. Saturday at the Paramount Theatre.
"Around the World at Christmas" will include classic holiday carols, as well as contemporary and lesser known holiday music.
Ann Flisrand, director of the community band, said the concert is open to all.
Embarking on its 18th year, the 12-member band includes musicians from 10 area churches. Four of the 12 members – Flisrand included – have been a member of Ecumenical Bells for all 18 years.
"This is a community-based, nondenominational group, thus the name ecumenical," Flisrand said.
In addition to the bell choir, a small assemble will perform.
A piano soloist will offer a Bethlehem medley.
Vocal solos and a flute duet are also planned.
Feliz Navidad medley will include a selection of Latino-influenced melodies, plus a Scandinavian Christmas medley.
Flisrand promised the concert would offer a variety of music for the whole family.
Tickets are available from members of Ecumenical Bells or at Neimitz’s downtown Austin. They will also be available at the door.
The cost is $5 for adults, $ for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, and admission for preschool-aged children is free.
