With the Riverland Community College basketball programs one game from the end of the regular season, statistics from the Minnesota Community College reveal some interesting trends.
The Blue Devils’ Missy Avery is listed among the South Division leaders in five separate categories. The freshman guard is tied for sixth in scoring with 13.7 points per game through 22 contests. She is third in three-point shooing percentage at 36 percent, tied for sixth in assists with 3.5 per game, seventh in steals and among the leaders in field goal percentage at 39.5 percent.
Melissa Rosel is among the leaders in two areas – fifth in steals with 3 per game and 10th in free throw shooting, converting 56 of 80 for 70 percent.
Sara Nagele also is listed in two categories. The sophomore is sixth in free-throw shooting with a 73 percent average after making 76 of 104 attempts. She is tied for ninth in steals with 3 per game or 70 total in 23 games.
Samantha Ulrich is tied for 10th in the MCC South Division, averaging 12.3 points per game.
A quick look at the men’s stats indicate the Blue Devils are strong individually in rebounding and scoring and weak in free throw shooting.
Nick Peters leads the team in scoring and is sixth in the conference with a 15.3 average. He also is seventh in rebounding with a 7.7 average.
Brandon Kettner also is among the scoring leaders with 13.1 per game. Kettner is fourth in the MCC South Division in rebounds with 210 for a 9.5 per game average. The 6-foot, 5-inch sophomore is also seventh in assists with 3.5 per game.
Zak Ulwelling is sixth in the division in assists with 4 per game and among the leaders in three-point shooting at 37 percent.
Marzell Little is fifth in field goal percentage at 55 percent and fourth in steals with 2.2 per game..
The Blue Devils have no players among the leaders in free throw shooting.
