Dana Miller’s termination from the Austin Fire Department has been upheld by an agreement reached late last week.
The agreement was reached Friday between the city, Miller and the International Association of Firefighters Local 598.
At the end of the City Council’s meeting Monday night, the council entered a closed-door session to discuss the matter. The council and Miller agreed that the termination would be upheld.
Miller was terminated from his job as a firefighter on Aug. 2. He subsequently filed a grievance claiming "excessive discipline."
In addition, the agreement cites that there will be no further arbitration or grievances heard and the city will not "initiate or prosecute" criminal or civil charges "for damages against (Miller) arising out of the conduct of (Miller) during his employment with the city of Austin as a firefighter."
