Packer girls lose in quarterfinals

ROCHESTER – The Austin Packers girls hockey team ended their season Saturday with a loss to Rochester Mayo, 3-1, in the Section 1 quarterfinals.

ROCHESTER – The Austin Packers girls hockey team ended their season Saturday with a loss to Rochester Mayo, 3-1, in the Section 1 quarterfinals.
"The girls skated hard," coach Denny Bray said. "They played their hearts out.
"It was a close game all the way to the end."
Austin got to the quarterfinals with a 7-0 win over Northfield on Friday at Riverside Arena.
Mayo scored at :45 in the first period, and again at 5:09 and 8:05 in the third period.
Austin’s sole goal came from an unassisted play by Jenny Nemitz.
There was no scoring in the second period, although Austin outshot Mayo, 9-6. In the first period, Mayo outshot the Packers, 14-5.
Packer goalie Kristina Swancutt had 34 saves at the net.
