DEXTER – It’s Dexter’s turn to take the spotlight June 23, when the Sunflower Daze celebration will be held.

DEXTER – It’s Dexter’s turn to take the spotlight June 23, when the Sunflower Daze celebration will be held.
Throughout that day, there will be volleyball, coed softball and 3-on-3 basketball tournaments at Dexter City Park.
In addition, the Elkton Upstreamers 4-H club will host a kiddie carnival in the downtown area. Also, there will be a flea market and crafts show plus the Pepsi Wagon and a beer garden.
The Southeastern Antique tractor Puller rules will be observed at the antique and classic tractor pull, that takes place throughout June 23 south of the Dexter Elevator.
But the 2001 Sunflower Daze schedule also includes some special events.
Beginning at 8 a.m. June 23, there will be citywide rummage sales and at 9 a.m. the popular consignment action gets under way with lunch provided by Dexter United Methodist Church.
St. John’s Lutheran Church of Elkton will hold a bake sale at the Dexter Fire Hall, beginning at 9 a.m.
B.E.A.R. C.A.T. Hollow, Racine, will bring some exotic wild animals for admiring 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23.
Then, everyone who loves bingo will want to be at the Dexter Fire Hall for games played 2 to 4 p.m.
A chicken fry begins at 4 p.m. at the Dexter Fire Hall with local businesses sponsoring a kiddie pedal tractor pull at 6:30 p.m.
Then, KROC’s Music On Wheels will host a street dance 8 p.m. to midnight with a special children’s hour beginning at 8 p.m.
Cash drawings will take place at 10 p.m. June 23.
