Gordon Bau is the new president of Farmers and Merchants Bank of Austin.
"I’m glad to be back in Austin and I’m looking forward to working with the Austin community," the new president said.
Bau was raised on a farm in southern Minnesota. He enjoys gardening, fishing, hunting and woodworking.
His wife Jane has worked at the Austin-Mower County Law Enforcement Center for several years. Currently, she works in civil processing for the Mower County Sheriff’s Department.
The couple has two adult daughters, currently living in the Twin Cities, and a son, who is a junior in high school.
Bau has worked more than 25 years in the financial industry. He has worked in Austin and many of the surrounding communities.
He had worked in all areas of lending, including consumer, commercial and agriculture.
Bau is involved with the Lions, Kiwanis, PAWS, FFA Alumni Association, YMCA, serves as a church trustee and Sunday school teacher and serves as an advisory committee member to local FFA chapter and adult farm management at Mankato Technical College.
