An Austin teenager has died from injuries suffered in a car accident Saturday.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Sara Barnes, 16, was riding in a car driven by Benjamin Clennon, 19, of Austin with passenger Jesse John Cassidy, 15, of Austin when the car rolled over on an icy patch of Interstate 90 shortly after 4 a.m.

Barnes, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated at Austin Medical Center before she was transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, where she died Monday.

Clennon, who was wearing a seat belt and Cassidy, who was not, were treated at Austin Medical Center and released.

The State Patrol says Clennon was westbound on Interstate 90, east of 28th Street, when he lost control and his vehicle went into the median and rolled over.
