Austin Mayor Bonnie Rietz (left) reads a proclamation declaring March Red Cross month with Elaine Hansen, executive director of the Mower County Red Cross Chapter. At Friday’s proclamation, Hansen gave awards to the Austin Dispatchers, the Austin Police Department and the Austin Fire Department for their work in the community and with the Red Cross. She also awarded nurse Kathleen Hill with the Ann Magunssen American Red Cross award which is a regional award recognizing a nurse’s volunteer efforts with the Red Cross.
