Leone L. Gallaher, 97
Leone L. Gallaher, 97, of Brownsdale, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at Adams Heath Care Center, Adams.
She was born June 11, 1904, in Milford, Iowa, to George and Nettie (Wheeler) Davis.
She graduated from Milford High School. After graduation she worked as a Telephone Operator in Spencer, Iowa.
On Dec. 29, 1926, she married William Gallaher in Estherville, Iowa.
After their marriage, the couple moved to Lansing where William farmed and she was a homemaker. She belonged to Mother’s Club and was a member of Lansing Methodist church where she taught Sunday School and participated in Women’s group (WMS). Later, they moved to farms near Dexter and Brownsdale. She then became a member of Brownsdale Methodist Church and was an active member in WMS there. She belonged to Mower County Home extension Council and helped with local charity drives. She enjoyed baking, canning, preserving foods, crocheting, reading poetry and feeding the birds.
Survivors include sons, Robert Gallaher, Spokane, Wash.; Richard (Mary) Gallaher, Brownsdale; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William, in 1970; four sisters; one great-granddaughter.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2002, at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Service: 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the United Methodist Church in Brownsdale with the Rev. Dr. Donald D. Budd officiating.
Interment: Greenwood Cemetery.
Funeral Home: Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, Brownsdale.
Memorials: To the United Methodist WMS.
Clara M. Wendel Grever
Roundup, Mont., died March 23, 2002, at her home.
Survivors include brother, Bernard Wendel, Chester, Iowa; sons and daughter in-law, Peter and Pat Viktora, Las Vegas, Nev.; Richard Viktora, Roundup, Mont.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, William Grever; parents, Mary and Peter Wendel; and sister, Rita Flo, all of Rose Creek.
Interment: 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Rose Creek Catholic cemetery.
