Geraldine M. Jacobson, 69
Geraldine M. Jacobson, 69, of rural Austin, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at her home.
She was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Climbing Hill, Iowa, to Wesley and Hilda (Boysen) Smith.
She graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1951 and attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught for two years in Lanyon, Iowa.
On Feb. 14, 1954, she married Leon Jacobson in Climbing Hill, Iowa. They farmed together in rural Lanyon from 1954 to 1967, until moving to rural Austin where they purchased a farm and where they have remained.
She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau, Bakers Dozen and an active member of the Republican Party.
Survivors include husband, Leon Jacobson, rural Austin; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Kristie Jacobson, Rochester; Scot and Mary Jacobson, Cumming, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Eric Fressle, Aurora, Colo.; Lois and Doug Nash, Parker, Colo.; nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Lorraine Smith, Sioux City, Iowa; Orlan and Aileen Hargens, Lincoln, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Warren Smith; sister, Shirley Berands; and half-sister, Erma Cooley.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., today, April 29, 2002, at the funeral home.
Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Seifert officiating. Organist will be Georgia Larkin. Casket bearers will be Gabriel Jacobson, Ben Jacobson, Nathan Jacobson, John Jacobson, Kirk Jacobson and Ron Jacobson.
Interment: Lost Grove Township Cemetery, Harcourt, Iowa.

Charles LeRoy DeVriendt, 67
Charles LeRoy &uot;Chuck&uot; DeVriendt, 67, of Waltham, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at his home.
He was born, Oct. 6, 1934, to Mell and Edna (Maile) DeVriendt in Dodge County.
He attended local schools and served in the United States Army for three years.
He had been employed with Waltham Plumbing and Heating for 35 years.
He was a member of the Hayfield American Legion.
Survivors include sisters, Joyce (Gerald) Juhnke, Blooming Prairie; Donna Stoelk, Austin; nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis DeVriendt; sister, Mabel Stelter; and brothers-in-law, Floyd Stelter and Orville Stoelk.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2002, and one hour before the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home with Father Richard Dernek officiating.
Interment: Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post #330.

Peder Arthur Legried, 67
Peder A Legried, 67, of Oakland, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital from an illness.
He was born Jan. 3, 1935, in Bancroft township to Peder and Agnes (Anderson) Legried. He graduated from Austin High School in 1953 and attended Mankato State Teachers College for one year.
He worked at Queen Stove Works, The Village (a steak house near Austin), Noland Brothers in Hayward, Holiday Inn in Albert Lea, Watkins, Inc., Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Austin and Streaters in Albert Lea.
On June 29, 1962, he married Jean Rae Schilling at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Myrtle.
Peder was a lifelong member of Oakland Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School for many years.
He enjoyed writing poetry, making jelly from wild fruit he gathered, playing piano, gardening, collecting Indian artifacts and cooking.
Survivors include wife, Jean, Oakland; son, Virgil (Michele), Byron; two grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Tammy, Maple Island; brother, Howard (Lou) Legried, New York Mills; sister, Irene (Warren) Mickelson, Mankato; step-brother, Richard Marsh, Anoka; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Enoch Marsh.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., today, April 29, 2002, at the funeral home and Tuesday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Oakland Lutheran Church with the Rev. LaDonna Ekern officiating.
Interment: Oakland Cemetery.
