Adam Nagele's two-run home run in the fourth inning highlighted Southland's six-run inning in a 22-12 five-inning non-conference win over Medford Tuesday night in Adams.
Southland scored at least three runs in every inning they came to the plate, including an eight-run fourth that put the Rebels on top 22-11. Medford scored seven runs in the third and another in the fifth, but could not keep pace with Southland's slugging and their own errors.
Medford was charged with nine errors, Southland committed five.
"They had a lot of errors and we also got on with a lot of walks, and we ran the bases pretty hard too," said Southland coach Larry Luke.
Adam Landherr earned the pitching victory for the Rebels, throwing three innings in the start. Greg Retterath closed out the final two innings, and also had two hits and two RBIs to help lead Southland to its 3-1 record.
Chad Wilson had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, and Jared Gilles drove in a run with a double. Steve Snyder and Nate Bergene each scored four runs.
Medford's Brent Reinhard hit a two-run homer to highlight the Tigers' loss.
Southland next plays a Southeast Conference doubleheader at home Thursday night against Houston.
