Teachers in the Austin School District have turned back a tentative agreement that had been endorsed by the the teacher's representatives.
The two sides had previously reached an agreement where the teachers would not have received raises, but did would not have seen increases in insurance premiums, either. The following year, district teachers would have seen a 4 percent bump in pay, but would have had to take on health insurance co-payments.
However, for the contract to be finalized, teacher's had to agree with the contract by a two-thirds margin.
