Two burglaries net more than #036;10,000

Police are searching for individuals who burglarized a business in the 500 block of North Main Street in Austin between 6 p.m. April 2 and 8:30 a.m. April 3.

According to Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp, the store's owner reported $800 in cash was taken along with $7,000 of jewelry.

The burglars entered the store through the basement through a door that had been boarded up after another business in the same building was burglarized April 1.

The subjects took the money from an unlocked safe in the store's office and did not tamper with the cash register.

Adams grocery store burglarized

According to Mower County Chief Deputy Terese Amazi, a grocery store in Adams has been burglarized.

The store's owners reported 50 cartons of cigarettes, valued at approximately $1,700, and $800 in quarters, dimes and nickles were taken.

The burglars are thought to have broken in through a rear door by the loading dock of the store.
