Anita I. Hitzemann, 79
Anita Ione Hitzemann, 79, of Brownsdale, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Sacred Heart Care Center, Austin. She had lived at Sacred Heart for three and one half years.
She was born Dec. 12, 1922, to Theordore O. and Clara (Thompson) Paulson in Freeborn County. She graduated from Hayfield High School.
She married Kenneth Hitzemann in Nashua, Iowa, and they were married for 60 years. The couple lived in Austin, Grand Meadow, Charles City, Iowa and on the family farm near Waltham until they moved to Brownsdale in 1946. They then purchased the Brownsdale Cafe which they operated until 1962. They lived in Brownsdale for over 50 years. In September 1998, Anita moved to the Cedars of Austin. She entered Sacred Heart Care Center in December of the same year where she remained until her death.
A homemaker, she supported her husband in his many interests and careers. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, and was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church Brownsdale.
Survivors include daughter, Judy Farrell Schaefer (Conrad), Austin; son, Gary Hitzemann (Diane Demmer), New Ringgold, Pa.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents; brother, Trumen; sister-in-law, Olive; son-in-law, John Farrell; a niece.
Visitation: 2:30 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the care center.
Service: 4 p.m. family memorial service, Saturday, at Sacred Heart Care Center's chapel with Pastor Myrwood Bagne officiating.
Interment: Greenwood Cemetery, near Brownsdale.
