Tyler Winters, 18
Tyler Everett Paul Winters, 18, of Lake George, N.Y., passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2002.
He was born Aug. 7, 1984, in Santa Barbara, Calif. the son of Debra Pack Torvick.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Debra and Jeff Torvick, Austin; brother, Chad E. Nelson, Tallahassee, Fla.; sister, Brooke Winters, Lake George, N.Y.; grandmother, Marilyn Pack, Austin; aunts and uncles, Kathy (Jim) Keller, Chisago City; Jodi (Bill) Wangen, Austin; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Everett D. Pack.
Service: 11 a.m. memorial service, Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Cornerstone Assembly of God, 1802 2nd Ave. SW, Austin with Pastor Dave Simerson officiating.
Jennie Melvina Myers, 98
Jennie Melvina Myers, 98, of Austin, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Austin Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 31, 1903, in Albert Lea, to John and Anne (Mikkelsen) Anderson.
She graduated from Austin High School and Normal school and taught in a country school near Grand Meadow.
On Nov. 25, 1928, she married Harry W. Myers in St. Paul.
She loved her flower gardens, houseplants, reading and hand-work.
She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was active in the women's organizations.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Floyd Martell, Austin; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 18, 1974; parents; brothers, Arnie, Otto and Alvin; and sister, Selma.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the funeral home and Saturday at the chapel for one hour before the service.
Service: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, at St. Marks Lutheran Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Mannel officiating. Casket bearers will be Carol Anderson, Linda Anderson, Mary Leichtnam, Jean Ackland, Joan VanRipper and Kathie Helland.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.

Gordon Kaufmann, 78
Gordon "Gordy" Paine Kaufmann, 78, of Austin, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the Adams Health Care Center, Adams.
He was born Oct. 25, 1923, in Austin, to Gordon L. and Anne (Paine) Kaufmann.
He attended school in Austin and joined the United States Army on Dec. 14, 1942, at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He served during World War II attaining the rank of Sergeant and was discharged on Oct. 16, 1945, from Camp Polk, La.
In 1945, he married Stella Lloyd. They lived in Iowa and Texas before their divorce.
Gordy worked for the Rock Island Railroad and Milwaukee Railroad.
On Aug. 15, 1964, he married Vera Forslund in Wells, where they lived until moving to Austin. Gordy moved to the Adams Health Care Center on July 3, 2001.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Past Commander of VFW Post 1216, Past President of AARP Cedar River Chapter 4093, Past Commander of DAV Arnold Brandt Post 27, American Legion Post 210 of Wells; A.A., D.A.R.E., TRIAD and the United Train Workers.
Survivors include sons, Mike (Mary) Forslund, College Park, Md.; Mark (Jody) Forslund, Austin; Steve (Mardelle) Armstrong, Des Moines, Iowa; Steve (Barb) Forslund, Olivia; Gordon J. Kaufmann, Mundelein, Ill.; daughters, Pat (Gary) Case, Tombstone, Ariz.; Sue (Les) Davis, Johnston, Iowa; Karen Kaufmann, Houston, Texas; Kathy Forslund, Roseville; JoAnn (Jim) Wilson, Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother, Leon (Clare) Kaufmann, Houston, Texas; relatives and friends.
Visitation: Noon to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at the church.
Service: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. Glenn Monson officiating.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 1216 and American Legion Post 91.
