With the weather getting cooler, people's activities are changing too. It is the time to gather inside and reconnect with one another. Now is the season when playing cards becomes popular. Most people that are old hands at playing cards learned from their parents. It used to be common that neighborhood gatherings were held around getting together and playing cards.
This still holds true today, but not as often as in the past. Families still gather to play cards and there are groups that, for years, have scheduled time together once a week or once a month to connect with one another and play cards. Cindy Horan of Austin plays cards every Tuesday with her father. He keeps track of their scores and looks forward to their time together.
"We have a good time together. I love playing cards and my daughter, Jackie plays cards too. Playing cards is a tradition in my family," Horan said.
