Austin High School graduate Laurie Alonso was one of five University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire athletes named Wisconsin Intercolle-giate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.

Alonso, a freshman, won the No. 2 singles title at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational and went 4-0 for the weekend. In dual meet action against Whitewater on Sept. 6, Alonso defeated Jenni Stamm 7-5, 6-2. She also defeated Stamm in the finals of the Warhawk Invite and did not lose a set the entire weekend.

The Blugolds are 9-0 as a team so far this season.
