Dehona I. Kuhn, 57
Dehona (Honi) Inez Kuhn, 57, of Austin died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Adams Health Care Center.
She was born April 5, 1945 in Austin to Danial and Mabel (Bell) Hall.
She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1963.
She married and later divorced John H. Kuhn, Jr.
She enjoyed many hobbies such as crafts, trapshooting, camping, fishing, volunteering her time as a Girl Scout leader, activity coordinator and treasurer of the Gopher Hawkeye 400 CB Club, taking care of animals, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include daughters Wendy (Randy) Sershen, Austin, Jody (Rodney) Stuckey, Austin; sons Jason Kuhn, Austin, Bronson Kuhn, Austin; two grandchildren; brothers Doug Anderson, Austin, Danny (Myrna) Hall, Cottage Grove, Glen Hall, Ardmore, Okla., half-brother Richard (Mickie) Hall, Rochester; half sister Florence Eaves, Galesburg, Ill.; nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and special friend Brian Hanson.
Visitation: Sunday, Sept. 22, from noon until the time of the service at the mortuary.
Service: 3 p.m., Sunday, at Clasen-Jordan Chapel with The Rev. Gregory Leif officiating.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery, Austin.

Ruth E. Freese, 84
Ruth E. Freese, 84, of Elmore, formerly of Austin, died Thursday, September 19, 2002, at Parkview Care Center in Wells.
She was born June 12, 1918, in Blue Earth to Harry and Mary (Rose) Childs.
She moved to Austin, as a young woman and began working at Hormel Foods.
Ruth is one of the last original Spam Girls with Hormel Foods.
She was married to Robert Stout until his death in 1963.
She was married to John Freese on Dec. 9, 1967 in Austin.
After more than 40 years with Hormel she retired and lived in Rose Creek then moved Elmore in l990.
She was an avid collector of dishware.
She loved cats and owned several over the years.
Survivors include brothers Bob Childs, Elmore, Mike Childs, Iowa; cousins, nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and brother William Childs.
Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at River of Life Worship Center, Blue Earth, with Pastor Arlon Lee officiating.
Interment: Pilot Grove Township Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Melvin L. Schmeling, 86
Melvin L. Schmeling, 86, of rural Waltham, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie.
He was born Nov. 13, 1915 in Waltham to William Schmeling and Selma Garbisch.
He married Mildred Jukes on May 24, 1936, at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in rural Waltham.
He was a lifelong resident of Waltham where he was a farmer.
He belonged to St. Michaels Lutheran Church in rural Waltham.
Survivors include sons Robert (Elaine) Schmeling, Blooming Prairie, Donald (Cheryl) Schmeling, Sumter, S.C.; daughters Barbara (Donald) Eddy, Georgetown, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Glen Schmeling, Hayfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son Roger, three brothers and one sister.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23 at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church.
Service: 2 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Michaels Lutheran Church, rural Waltham, with the Rev. John Heruth officiating.
Interment: St. Michaels Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Waltham.
